The NorthCap University is an autonomous university. It was established in 1996 by Educate India Society, enlisted under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860 as an Engineering Institute, to give instruction in Technical and Management. Some time ago it was under Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

The Institute picked up the status of private college in the Academic Year 2009-10, and was renamed ITM University under segment 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956[2] and PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES ACT NO 25 OF 2009, Government of Haryana.

The University is situated in Sector 23-A, Gurgaon, Haryana, which is around 5 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport. The grounds is spread over a region of 10 sections of land of land in urban region.

The college expanded its admission limit in January 2014 with the expansion of another five-story scholarly piece that incorporates twofold storm cellar stopping, an assembly hall that seats 460, workshop rooms and instructional exercise rooms.

The University has four schools offering courses at the undergrad, graduate and doctoral level

2. School of Management
3. School of Law
4. School of Professional Attachment
5. center for Languages Learning

In 2016 the college was positioned as the best private college in the Delhi/NCR and Haryana district and 82nd by and large in the NIRF University Ranking led by the MHRD, Govt of India
